Poshmark's commission tiers

Poshmark's fee is not one number. Which tier applies depends entirely on whether the sale clears $15:

The $15 threshold matters more than sellers expect

A $14 sale costs you $2.95 in commission — about 21%. A $16 sale costs $3.20 — 20%. The two tiers land in roughly the same place there, but below about $10 the flat fee turns punishing: a $6 item hands nearly half the sale to Poshmark. If you source a lot of low-value pieces, bundling them into a single higher-priced listing usually beats listing them separately.

Poshmark and retail arbitrage

Retail arbitrage means buying an item in one place and reselling it where it is worth more. Poshmark is a strong selling venue for clothing, footwear and accessories sourced from thrift stores, outlet clearance, or underpriced listings on other marketplaces. The 20% commission is one of the highest in the category, so the discipline that makes it work is buying low enough that the flip still clears your target margin after the fee — not hoping to price your way out of it later.

Sourcing from another marketplace? The retail arbitrage calculator lets you set both the buying and the selling platform and compares the fees on each side.

Poshmark fee questions

How much does Poshmark take per sale?

Poshmark uses two tiers. On sales under $15 it takes a flat $2.95 commission and you keep the rest. On sales of $15 and above it takes 20% and you keep 80%.

Why is Poshmark's fee so high on cheap items?

Because the under-$15 tier is a flat $2.95 rather than a percentage. On a $10 sale that is nearly 30% of the price, which is why very low-priced items are often better bundled than listed individually.

Who pays shipping on Poshmark?

Poshmark's standard flat shipping rate is paid by the buyer, though sellers frequently offer a shipping discount to close a sale. Any discount you offer comes out of your payout, so enter it as seller shipping in the calculator.

Can I use Poshmark for retail arbitrage?

Yes — sourcing clothing, shoes and accessories cheaply and reselling them on Poshmark is a common flip. The 20% commission is steep compared with most marketplaces, so the buy price has to be low enough to survive it. Run the numbers above before you buy rather than after.
